Well, after quite a few hours spent understanding how to modify the CSS file, I finally managed to come up with some satisfying results (even though I am still struggling with some area I have decided to publish it ).
Don’t hesitate to come and visit (why not shop too!!) and leave me a note, feedback, improvements or simply a word of encouragement!

I’d love to get a tutorial on CSS. I tried to modify the template but while I have basic html skill (and I do mean basic), the minute I changed the CSS I managed to create a real mess of my shop.
As suggested I running thematic shop …. my most developed sites are http://www.justrugby.zlio.com, http://www.toymagic.zlio.com, http://www.f1motorsport.com. From these three sites I’ve managed to generate only $3 but I’m still learning. I’m thinking advertising is essential!!
Using the Google Analytic tool I have discovered that tagging is absolutely critical and over night I went from no hits to 5 hits per day….not big numbers but it’s a start. But I’m not sure what else I can do to get up there!!!
Two questions…when is Zlio going to launch in the UK and will I be able to change the region of my shop? Alternatively, can I have a multi-region shop?
April 17th, 2007 à 11:53 am
Hi Speedfreak !
I like what you did with that “justrugby” store !
You are absolutely right, promotion is everything… We’ll be giving you more tips on this blog so keep reading !
Meanwhile, have you tried buying a couple of Google Adwords ? It sure helps boost your traffic and revenues…
To answer your questions, Zlio will launch in the UK next summer. However, as most of the merchants are local, you will need to start another shop and won’t be able to have a multi region shop.
Good luck with your shops !

Quick update – I’m now running a campaign on Google AdWords as suggested. The number of hits on my http://www.justrugby.zlio.com site have increased by about 500%. Fantastic!!! On my other site, http://www.toymagic.zlio.com, the number of hits has increased by about 300% – still very good! But I’ve still not generated any additional sales
Perhaps it’s my site. Is there any chance you could help me “pimp my site”…..please…to see if that makes a difference???

I run The Hot Sauce Collector at http://hotsauce.zlio.com — Much to my initial surprise, we have in fact been generating commissions from sales on our site. The real value in zlio lies in targetted marketing advantages for well-designed, thoughtful sites that are truly focused around a niche where the depth and broadness of your coverage can provide real value over the competition. Larger sites will struggle to cover particular products and product genres in the same intensity and completeness as a site focused solely on that product. Within the example of hot sauce collecting, http://hotsauce.zlio.com serves value to the customer a couple of ways:
1) Fast, Easy, Reliable Hot Sauce Recommendations
2) A continuously updated & increasing selection of hot sauces
3) A venue to share my passion for hot sauce with others pursuing the same hobby.
The Hot Sauce Collector is something that I enjoy immensely given my prior interest in the subject matter as a collector, and in a way, is something that I had already allocated time to before the site was even up and running. When people ask me for my hot sauce recommendations, now I can just send them to my site instead of have to list off all of my recent hot sauce finds off the top of my head.

I have only just signed up and one of the things I know about online marketing is that you have to be able to cross promote your businesses. That way when you have 1 or 2 of those businesses that do well or have a lot of good traffic, then you can promote your other businesses that have only a little traffic. I have been trying to do internet marketing for a couple of years and the one thing that always holds me back is the money it takes to do it right. I have to do all the search engine submission and all the other submissions by hand without using a paid for submission programs.
Anyway, what my question is: Is there a way to put banners and text links into our websites to advertise and to cross promote in order to advertise the store??
I haven’t seen anything that has something like that so I figured I would ask. Do you have to “upgrade” in order to do so?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Penny

Hello friends,
I had put my store on google and was appearing on the third page of search. But a few days back it has totally vanished. Google is gone crazy and is removing all pages with paid links. But is zlio pages being kept or is that also getting the paid link tab. I wish some one could give me and the readers here a little about the google policy change that has happened now. My site is http://pspgames.zliostore.com/ which has now vanished on google. Thanks in anticipation for any one with some suggestion to get it back.
